How Do You Use Vibrato on Violin
How do you do vibrato?
Marie from learninghowtoplaytheviolin.com
Vibrato is a more advanced technique. Typically, you'll start learning how to do this about 3 to 5 years after you start learning violin (if you keep at it).
There are two forms of vibrato. For one, the movement comes from pivoting from the elbow. With the other kind of vibrato, it comes from pivoting from the wrist. The more common type of vibrato is from the wrist.
Also, it's important to keep the entire arm as relaxed as you can. Some beginning violinists find it helpful to make the knuckles on their fingers a little flexible, also.
The motion that you need to practice and try for is "waving goodbye to yourself".
I hope this helps you!
